Every person with curly hair has had the experience, you go to the salon, they wash and cut your hair, they blow it out, it looks great. Then you get home, you wash your hair, the curls come back, the layers feel like shelves, its too short, you have cocker spaniel ears, etc. Here at Locks by Lindsey I have spent countless hours traveling and training to give your curls the cut that they deserve, but the process truly begins before you ever step foot into my salon.

As the curl specialist behind Locks by Lindsey I am dedicated to helping you unlock your curl potential. Great curls start with a great cut, and a great cut begins before you even get to the salon. It is my professional opinion, after years of training, that the best way to cut curly hair is dry. This allows me to assess your curl pattern, your spring factor, and to see where the curls are actually going to live day to day. In order for this to be a success there are a few things that you should do to prep for your appointment:
Tips for Your Appointment
1) Arrive with clean, dry hair. This helps me get a good feel for your curls! When your hair is layered with too much product, it can be tough for me to see how they naturally fall. Sure, you might feel a bit frizzy or less defined without all those products, but trust me, it’ll be worth it! I want your curls to shine and bounce beautifully after we’re done. Plus, I’ll be washing and styling your hair right after the cut, so you’ll leave with gorgeous, defined curls that look and feel healthier!
2) Don't forget to give your curls some love by detangling them! Before your visit, take a little extra time to thoroughly detangle your hair while washing and styling. This not only makes things smoother for both of us during the dry cutting part of your appointment, but it also helps ensure your cut looks fabulous and consistent. Trust me, a curl that’s tangled up can really stand out once your hair is washed and styled, and we want you to love every bit of your new look!
3) Avoid ponytails, braids, buns, and other styles before your appointment. To give you the best haircut possible, it's super helpful for me to see your curls in their natural state! When your hair is pulled back or styled, it can hide the true length and spring of your curls. This might result in a shorter cut than we both want once we style it and your beautiful curls bounce back! I know we want to avoid any surprises, so please try to plan accordingly. I appreciate your understanding!
As a fellow curly girl, I truly appreciate that having curly hair can sometimes feel like a lot of work. I completely understand the frustration that can come with the preparation for your appointment. I have been there myself! Please know that my request for you to arrive prepped in a specific way comes from a place of wanting to provide you with the best curly cut possible. This preparation is key to achieving the desired results. When you take the time to prep, it will feel worth it when you see your happy, healthy curls come to life! Together, we can work towards making your curly hair dreams a reality.
